Ivy’s primary focus is rehabilitative and preventative care through a solution-based treatment plan. She has a background in health care. At seventeen years old, she was diagnosed with severe back health issues that could possibly result in her being wheelchair-bound.
In 1997, Ivy became a single mom of three children and went back to university to work towards an Occupational Health Degree. She worked three part-time jobs in attendant care while attending school. Her back pain became so severe that she had to be prescribed strong pain medications. She was told she would never be pain-free or drug-free again. The medications affected her personality and memory.
She has spent her life trying to find alternative treatments to deal with her back issues. Having received back massages from nurses pre and post labour and feeling more relaxed, she decided to attend the Accredited Canadian Therapeutic College for Massage Therapy and Hydrotherapy 2000 to increase her earning potential and complete her degree later. At that time, she did not know the whole Scope of Practice of Massage Therapy, but within six months of attending the program, Ivy became pain-free and drug-free from receiving treatment from fellow students and learning and understanding the SCOPE OF PRACTICE OF THE PROFESSION OF MASSAGE THERAPY.
Ivy has used her knowledge and skills acquired through Massage Therapy and continuing education, toward working with clients as a partnership to assess and develop individual treatment plans. These treatment plans focus on rehabilitation, augmentation and release of pain with an emphasis on teaching her clients preventative measures that get them back to optimum health.
